Miyajima 12th,

We start the day traveling to Miyajima island, first by train and then by ship. Both forms of transport are covered by our Japan Rail Pass.

From the water, we get great views of the famous Itsukushima Floating Torii.

As we arrive at the island, I am surprising by the extend and variety of birds and crustaceans, and - like in Nara - deer.

Our first stop is Itsukushima Shrine. Shrine architecture is quite similar anywhere, but all shrines have something unique, in this one the setting itself makes it like no other. The shrine is over the sea, like it is its torii.

After visiting the shrine, we got to visit other landmarks at Miyajima. That includes Daisho-in Temple and Senjokaku Hall.

We have hotel in the island, so we go to rest when it gets late.
